FAQs
Commissioning a mural is a big deal! Having questions about the process is expected and encouraged. We believe clear and transparent communication is key for a smooth, positive experience for everyone. Read on for answers to our frequently asked questions and if you don’t see your question answered here, contact us! We’re more than happy to help.
How much do you charge?
We’ll get this one out of the way first. Our custom murals are priced by the square foot, starting at $25 per square foot. This rate can change depending on additional variables, such as color scheme (one color vs. a large color palette), the surface and texture of the wall, accessibility and height of the wall, and any prep work or finishing required for the mural surface.
Though we price murals by the square foot, we have a $1000 minimum for every mural project. With every mural we create we factor in sketch/design time, preparation and material costs, correspondence time and insurance into our baseline fee.
Logo painting/storefront signage: For an existing logo to be painted on your business’ door/windows along with store hours and business contact information, our rate begins at $500. This rate can change depending on the size of your storefront door/windows, including multiple colors, and accessibility/height of your storefront windows.
What’s the process like from start to finish?
It begins with an initial meeting (either in-person or over the phone) to discuss your mural ideas and vision for your space. This also includes gathering information about the size and specifics of the wall and your timeline. I’ll provide a quote for your project, and once the quote is approved I’ll ask for a 50% deposit to get started with the creative process. The design process includes two sketches and two rounds of revisions for the chosen sketch, which will be finalized into a full color digital proof. Once the final design is approved, we can schedule the mural installation and I’ll get started painting your mural!
how long does it take to paint a mural?
The time it takes to paint a mural depends on several factors: size, complexity, and location. For example, an interior 8x14’ mural takes about a week to complete. I always factor in extra time for exterior murals (the weather is the greatest unpredictable variable!).
Where are you located?
I live in Kansas City, Missouri and paint all over the Midwest. I’m always happy to travel for projects, no matter where you’re located!
